Clinical study on the relationship between the efficacy of radiotherapy and the methy-lation status of GPR37 in elderly patients with esophageal cancer
Objective To explore the relationship between the efficacy of radiotherapy and the methylation status of G protein-coupled receptor 37(GPR37)in elderly patients with esophageal cancer. Methods Sixty-six elderly patients with esophageal cancer admitted to our hospital from Jan.2023 to Jun.2023 were selected as the research subjects, and their cancer tissue and corresponding adjacent tissue samples were collected.Immunohistochemistry was used to determine the expression of GPR37,and specific PCR was used to detect GPR37 gene methylation. To analyze the relationship between the efficacy of radiotherapy and GPR37 methylation status in elderly patients with esophageal cancer. Results Compared with adjacent tissues, the positive rate of GPR37 positivity and gene methylation in cancer tissue was significantly higher(P<0.05);both GPR37 positivity and gene methylation positivity were related to the differentiation degree and TNM stage of elderly esophageal cancer patients, lymph node metastasis were closely related(P<0.05);the results of single-factor and multi-factor Logistic regression analysis showed that the degree of differentiation,TNM stage, lymph node metastasis and GPR37 gene methylation positivity would affect the efficacy of radiotherapy in elderly patients with esophageal cancer(P<0.05).Conclusion GPR37 positivity and its gene methylation positivity rate are significantly higher in cancer tissues of elderly patients with esophageal cancer, and are related to the degree of differentiation,TNM stage and lymph node metastasis. In addition, the efficacy of radiotherapy in elderly patients with esophageal cancer is also related to the degree of differentiation,TNM stage and lymph node metastasis. There is a certain relationship between metastasis and GPR37 gene methylation positivity.
