Research progress on miRNA in inflammatory bowel disease-associated intestinal fibrosis
Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),which includes Crohn's disease(CD)and ulcerative colitis(UC),represents a group of chronic, recurrent diseases that induce inflammation in the intestinal tract.Intestinal fibrosis is a common and severe complication of IBD,and its early diagnosis is challenging, while assessing the degree of fibrosis accurately poses difficulties.Furthermore, effective anti-fibrotic medications are currently lacking, often necessitating intestinal resection surgeries for patients experiencing intestinal obstruction due to fibrosis.MiRNA,a type of non-coding short-chain RNA,play a crucial regulatory role in the development of intestinal fibrosis. This article provided a compre-hensive review of the research progress on miRNA in IBD-related intestinal fibrosis, aiming to elucidate the mechanisms through which miRNA regulates IBD-associated intestinal fibrosis. It also summarized advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of intestinal fibrosis using miRNA,thereby laying a theoretical foundation for the study and application of miRNA in the field of intestinal fibrosis.
