Research progress on anti-fibrosis of epigallocatechin gallate in tea extract
Epigallocatechin gallate(EGCG)is the most important monomer of polyphenols in tea extracts.Studies have shown that EGCG has anti-inflammatory,antioxidant,anti-metabolic disease and anti-tumor effects, and it also has important protective effects on cardiovascular and nervous system.Organ fibrosis is an important process in the occur-rence and development of many diseases.Early diagnosis and intervention of organ fibrosis can effectively reverse the disease and improve the adverse outcome.Studies have shown that EGCG may be mediated by anti-oxidative stress,anti-inflammatory,anti-collagen production and deposition,anti-stellate cell proliferation and activation, and other ways to inhibit the occurrence and development of fibrosis. In view of EGCG may have important clinical application value in anti-organ fibrosis, this article would review the role of EGCG in organ fibrosis,in order to provide theoretical basis for further research and development of EGCG.
