Lead poisoning misdiagnosed as acute porphyria:one case report
A patient who developed lead poisoning after taking folk medicine pills was initially suspected to have acute porphyria due to normal blood lead levels in two consecutive tests conducted by the electrochemical method and a positive result in the qualitative porpho-bilinogen test using the sun-exposure method. However, acute abdominal pain, hemolysis, and even liver function impairment are the key features that distinguish lead poisoning from acute porphyria.
