Broad Bandwidth and High-gain Transimpedance Amplifier for Pulsed ToF Lidar Receiver Applications
A broad bandwidth and high-gain transimpedance amplifier(TIA)is presented for pulsed time-of-flight(ToF)Lidar receiver applications. The proposed TIA primarily consists of a transimpedance preamplifier(preTIA),post-voltage amplifier, gain compensation amplifier, and output buffer. The preTIA circuit is implemented by a modified regulated-cascode(RGC).The active feedback circuit is used to increase the bandwidth in the proposed post voltage amplifier. The proposed gain compensation amplifier with active inductive peaking is utilized to mitigate the effect of the large-size output buffer on the entire TIA bandwidth. The proposed TIA circuit was designed using a 0.18 μm standard CMOS technology. The simulation results showed that the proposed TIA achieved a differential-mode transimpedance gain of 106 dBΩ,-3 dB bandwidth of-300 MHz,input-referred noise current spectral density of 6.8 pA/√Hz,minimum detectable signal of 0.7 μA at SNR is 5,dynamic range of 83 dB,and power dissipation of 168 mW with a 3.3 V power supply.
