Wideband VCO Based on an Equivalent Impedance Gradient Transformer
A millimeter-wave wide tuning range voltage-controlled oscillator circuit fabricated using the 65 nm CMOS process is introduced. The wideband technology applied to a VCO is analyzed. An equivalent impedance gradient transformer was proposed and designed to optimize radio frequency phase noise of the VCO to solve the problem of radio frequency phase noise. The output frequency of the voltage-controlled oscillation is 20.4-40.2 GHz,covering the 5G millimeter wave communication bands of 24-26 GHz and 38-39 GHz.The phase noise in the full band is less than-102 dBc/Hz,and the figure-of-merit in the full band is greater than 180.9 dBc/Hz.
