In some Han-Dynasty tombs in Northwest China,single-handled three-legged jars were found as burial items, which were utilitarian vessels. This study suggests that the appearance of these jars in the northwest during the Han Dynasty may be related to the migration of the Xiongnu and other nomadic peoples into the region. It represents a result of cultural interaction between the nomadic groups and the Central Plains populations. This cultural phenomenon disappeared after the middle Eastern Han period,as their users migrated to the Guanzhong region and fully integrated into the Central Plains culture.
