Museum exhibitions of artifacts often overemphasize the physical attributes of artifacts, neglecting their intrinsic connections and historical contexts. This leads to issues such as severe homogenization, single exhibition types, and a lack of dialogue. To address these problems,China's museum industry has introduced the Western narrative theory and applied it to museum research and exhibition planning practices. The Treasures of the Great Tang Dynasty exhibition at the Shaanxi History Museum combined narrative with artifact appreciation and visitor experience during its redesign process. It explored and practiced narrative construction and narrative discourse, moving beyond a sole focus on artifacts to truly narrate history and pass on culture.
