The reliquary containers unearthed from the underground palace of the Qingfan Temple Pagoda, including the Northern Song multi-Buddha relic pagoda, the gilt silver Ashoka pagoda, and the small-mouthed glazed glass bottle, are highly representative and typical artworks. The multi-Buddha relic pagoda represents the newly emerging multi-tiered octagonal pagoda style of the Song Dynasty, while the gilt silver Ashoka pagoda innovatively combines the Tang Dynasty pavilion-style reliquary design with the Ashoka pagoda style popular since the Five Dynasties. In the reliquary interment arrangement, the"Buddha's sarira relics"were placed inside the glazed glass bottle, which was then housed in the gilt silver Ashoka pagoda, and finally enclosed within the multi-Buddha relic pagoda. The discovery of the underground palace provides significant insights into the Northern Song reliquary interment system, the evolution of reliquary containers, and their combinations.
