This paper employs the Possible World theory to examine the relationship between science fiction and"reality".The connotation of science fiction suggests inherent tension,as it is both a work of fiction based on"fantasy"and closely related to"science",requiring to be consistent with cognitive logic in the actual world. In the light of Possible World theory, science fiction, although not"imitating"the real world, has an inner connection with reality:the"possible world"in the future envisioned by science fiction is"counterpart"of social reality, showcasing the profound impact of technology on human life and the shift in human's perception of technology from"reckless optimism"to"comprehensive reflection".Through"Reciprocal Feedback"between the"possible world"and the"actual world",science fiction not only inspires technological invention but also warns of the social crises and ethical dilemmas arising from the application of technology. The poetics of science fiction deconstruct the binary relationship between"fiction"and"reality".Through the extrapolation of possible worlds, excellent science fiction can reflect the current social reality as well as anticipate the reality of the future world, demonstrating similar intellectual depth, critical spirit, and sense of historical responsibility as literary works of realism.
