Objective To explore the application of the knowledge-attitude-practice(KAP)model in health education for parents of children with pertussis.Methods A total of 172 cases of children diagnosed with pertussis in the Children's Hospital,Zhejiang University School of Medicine from August 2019 to February 2021 were selected.Their fathers or mothers were taken as the research subjects and divided into control group and observation group,with 86 cases in each group,and they were given routine health education and KAP model,respectively.The anxiety,KAP,and nursing satisfaction scores of the parents in both groups were compared.Results The post-intervention self-rating anxiety scale score of parents in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The post-intervention KAP score of the parents in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The nursing satisfaction score of parents in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Implementing health education for parents of children with pertussis using the KAP model can effectively improve their anxiety levels,enhance their knowledge acquisition and nursing satisfaction.
