Agglomeration of Strategic Emerging Industries,Industrial Structure Upgrade, and Regional Economic Resilience
It is of great significance for the high-quality development of regional economic systems to enhance their resilience to internal and external shocks. This paper theoretically elaborates on the relationship between the agglomeration of strategic emerging industries and regional economic resilience from three dimensions, including resistance and recovery, adaptability and adjustability,as well as innovation and transformation.Based on panel data from 31 provinces and municipalities in China from 2009 to 2021,this study constructed a regional economic resilience index system, and calculated the location quotient of strategic emerging industries,in order to investigate the impact and its internal mechanism of the agglomeration of strategic emerging industries on regional economic resilience. The findings are as follows:(1)overall regression results indicate that the agglomeration of strategic emerging industries can significantly enhance regional economic resilience, and this conclusion still holds after a series of robustness tests;(2)the agglomeration of strategic emerging industries promotes the regional economic resilience through the transmission path of industrial structure upgrade;(3)regional regression results show that the agglomeration of strategic emerging industries has a greater promoting effect and stronger mediation effects on the economic resilience of the eastern and central regions. Therefore, vigorous development of strategic emerging industries should be encouraged, and differentiated strategic emerging industry agglomeration development strategies should be implemented according to local conditions,so as to effectively promote industrial structure upgrade.
