In order to respond to the opportunities brought by new liberal arts,this study puts forward ideas and strategies for the development of the Chinese Wushu discipline in the context of the construction of new liberal arts on the basis of systematically reviewing the development history of the Chinese Wushu discipline since the modern times.After the founding of the People's Republic of China,the setting of"Wushu theory and method"laid the foundation for the development of the Chinese Wushu discipline.In 1997,the academic development of Wushu shifted from focusing on the discussion of discipline construction to the study of culture from a multidisciplinary perspective,but there was a lack of research subjectivity,blurred disciplinary boundaries,and the disconnection between academic research and discipline development.This study proposes that in the context of the construction of new liberal arts,the development of the Chinese Wushu discipline should have a forward-looking vision and confidence in transformation and grasp new opportunities.It is necessary to face up to the changes brought about by emerging science and technology and industrial revolution and plan the discipline layout.It is necessary to strengthen the academic stance and establish a subjective discipline theory system.It is also necessary to strengthen problem awareness,promote the construction of the academic system of the Chinese Wushu,follow the principle of"cultivating people with virtue"and create a characteristic curriculum system with the purpose of serving the cultivation of talents in the new era.
