Tearing off"Label":Embodiment of Visually Impaired Runner
Following the main line of the natural meaning and social meaning of the body, this paper analyzes the physical presentation of the visually impaired runners in the daily world by using the"bio-psycho-social model"in the theoretical discussion of"embodiment".It was revealed that visually impaired people were eager to tear off the label of"disability"and break the boundaries of self-presentation.The process of body redefinition represented the gradual formation of"a different self"and"a fighting self".The physical characteristics of the visually impaired demonstrated a new body in a more complex social sense such as"consciousness resistance"and"cognitive transformation"under a series of physical practices and strategies of"manipulation"and"grooming".Visually impaired people established a new order of sensory world and social integration different from"visual superiority"under the mutual construction and equal interaction of multiple perceptions.By analyzing this dynamic process of"embodiment"and its social behavior and relationship,it was hoped to enrich the empirical study of"mutilated"body in the context of the Chinese social modernization.
