A Study of Transmedia Storytelling in China's Mainstream Media Coverage of Village Competition from Perspective of Cross-Media Narrative in Sports News
Under the background of media integration being a national strategy, sports journalism becomes an important practical field for cross-media news communication.By adopting corpus assisted content analysis and semantic network analysis, this study probed into the cross media narrative characteristics, mechanisms, and values of mainstream media coverage of"village competitions"in China. It could be seen that mainstream media had constructed a story telling world from the rural areas to the world based on the media characteristics of various media platforms. The mechanism of its cross media narrative was to enlarge the boundaries of the story telling world through logical content expansion based on time, space, and people, through nesting, transformation, and collaboration,as well as the narrative participation of sports fans. The values of its cross media narrative lay in meeting the needs of the national strategies,as well as the representation of the common people's discourse by mainstream media.Strategies for cross media narrative in sports journalism included creating a narrative ecology of intermediality, establishing a inclusive and open sports story telling environment, constructing a narrative expansion system based on time, space, and people, providing channels for collaborative news reporting for sports fans.Sports journalism under transmedia storytelling provided a path for building a community with a shared future for mankind while refining the analytical dimensions of transmedia narrative theory.
