Numerical Research on Influence of Bionic Blade Section Thickness Distribution on Hydrodynamic Performance of Propellers
In order to further analyze the impact of changes in geometric characteristics of marine propellers upon the hydro-dynamic performance, the thickness distribution of blade sections was changed by a parameterized bionic design method and the SST k-ω turbulent model coupled with Schnerr-Sauer cavitation model were used to simulate the open water characteristics and cavitation morphology of bionic marine propellers with different blade sections. The results showed that the reasonable design of the thickness distribution of bionic blade sections can improve the efficiency at different advance speeds and reduce the cavitation area on the blade surface to a certain extent;however,as the thickest point of the bionic blade section gradually approaches the leading edge, the cavitation development on the blade surface will also occur in advance.
