Design of the Wellhead Hydraulic Connector for Deep-water X-tree
A hydraulic driven connector with locking segments based on18-3/4"H4 profile,69 MPa wellhead pressure was designed.Using the FEA method,the influence of the locking profile interference on the locking hump pressure,the connector preload,the relationship between locking connector preload and hump pressure,and the VX gasket sealing performance under the failure load condition were analyzed,and the correlation analysis results were tested and verified.The analysis and test verifica-tion showed that the connector preload has a liner relationship with the locking hump pressure within the adjustable range of inter-ference,and the preload can be effectively evaluated by the value of the locking hump pressure.The result of FEA can provide an effective reference for connector debugging;continuous annular contact indentation is a necessary condition for the sealing of the steel gasket.The material and processing quality of sealing surface are critical factors to establish the sealing.The connector has excellent function,structure and sealing performance under 69 MPa+1 300 kN+11 000 kN·m load conditions.The connec-tor equipped with X-tree has been successfully demonstrated in the relevant oil/gas fields in the South China Sea.
