Piezoelectric effect of Mn,Bi co-doped sodium niobate for promoting cell proliferation and bacteriostasis
A bone repair material of Mn,Bi co-doped sodium niobate with piezoelectricity was prepared using the hydrothermal method. The microscopic morphology, composition, piezoelectricity, sonodynamic and enzyme-like activity of the material was characterized by scanning electron microscope,X-ray diffractometer,X-ray photoelec-tron spectrometer, piezoelectric force microscope, electrochemical workstation,ultraviolet-visible-near-infrared spectrometer, and electron paramagnetic resonance spectrometer. The results demonstrate that the material possess-es both piezoelectric properties and enzyme-like activity;the ultrasound-triggered piezoelectric effect not only pro-motes cell proliferation but also enhances sonodynamic and enzyme-like activity, which generates reactive oxygen species for synergistic killing of bacteria/removal of biofilm.
