Nowadays,contemporary game has become a common form of activity in people's daily life.In the classification of traditional art,it has developed into the"the ninth category of art"in addition to sculpture,music,painting and so on.This paper first provides an overview of contemporary games,explaining how they have become the"the ninth category of art"and their characteristics;then it analyzes the development status of contemporary games under the integration of art and technology;and finally clarifies the development trend of contemporary games under the integration of art and technology from two aspects of technology and art.It aims to explain that games,as a product of the integration of art and technolo-gy,have many development possibilities in the new era.
