Sports toy equipment is an important part of the organization and implementation of primary physical ed-ucation and health activities.The design and development of sports toy equipment can not only reflect the character-istics and conditions of primary school education,but also reflect the teaching ability and innovation consciousness of physical education teachers in primary school.Children in different grades have different psychological character-istics,sports level,and cognitive structure characteristics.In order to promote the healthy growth and comprehensive development of students in primary school,physical ed-ucation teachers should optimize the design of sports toy equipment based on children's psychological character-istics.This paper first expounds the application status of primary sports toy equipment based on children's psycho-logical characteristics,then analyzes the design principles of primary sports toy equipment from three aspects:the principle of physical and mental development,the prin-ciple of adapting to local conditions,and the principle of fun,and finally puts forward optimization suggestions for primary sports toy equipment based on children's psycho-logical characteristics.
