National culture is the inexhaustible source of animation art creation,and is the soil for animation mode-ling design to obtain rich nutrients.The animated short film Goose Mountain has created a modern animation character image with distinct national characteristics by refining and applying Changqing blood halo makeup in the Tang Dynasty,providing development ideas for the character de-sign in Chinese animation.In addition,it breaks traditional boundaries in design thinking,making works present rich levels and profound artistic conception in the visual effect.This paper analyzes the historical background of Chang-qing blood halo makeup,summarizes its application value,and takes the animated short film Goose Mountain as an example to analyze how to apply Changqing blood halo makeup to animated character design,in order to further explore new ideas and new methods for domestic animated character design.
