With the rapid development of information tech-nology and the increasingly fierce global competition,the traditional manufacturing industry is facing unprecedented challenges.In this context,intelligent manufacturing came into being as an effective way to meet these challenges.Intelligent manufacturing is a new production mode driven by information and knowledge,which realizes the optimi-zation and improvement of manufacturing process through highly automated,intelligent and networked production mode.This paper summarizes intelligent manufacturing,introduces the background and significance of the emer-gence of intelligent manufacturing,discusses the applica-tion of intelligent manufacturing in different industries and challenges in its development process,and puts forward the influence and prospect of intelligent manufacturing on the future manufacturing industry.
