With the development of the times and the pro-gress of science and technology,the expression form of character design has gradually shifted from traditional pa-per media to digital platform.Designers use digital paint-ing and other creation techniques on the basis of traditional painting forms,which provides a new path for character design.As a hot topic in the creation of the theme of curi-osity and terror in recent years,the character of"Cthulhu"has been widely used in many fields such as games,film and television,animation and so on.While broadening the communication media of Cthulhu literary works,it also enriches their visual expression.This paper makes a comparative analysis of the evolution of the painting style and techniques of Cthulhu character image,discusses the influence of digital technology on Cthulhu character de-sign,and analyzes the challenges and prospects of Cthulhu character design under the influence of digital technology.
