With the development of broadcast and television(B&T)5G and B&T optical broadband,B&T operators are expanding from traditional broadcast and television video services to comprehensive network-integrated video services.For network video services(in-cluding comprehensive videos,short videos,live streaming,IPTV,etc.),the HLS(HTTP Live Streaming)protocol is widely adopted to provide services to users.This paper proposes an innovative method to improve HLS stream playback efficiency and introduces an in-novative player technology.For multi-bitrate HLS media streams,adding multi-bitrate description information to the M3U8 playlist and transforming the original two-level M3U8 index files into a single-file format reduces the number of HTTP requests made by the player and eases the file management burden on the content delivery network(CDN),thus enhancing the player's access efficiency.Finally,the paper also introduces the application and promotion of this method in B&T video services.
