Study on electrochemical treatment of sodium chloride organic waste salt in spice industry
In order to achieve the resource utilization of sodium chloride organic waste salt, the sodium chloride organic waste salt from a spice enterprise was took as the research object, and a two-chamber electrolysis process for resource treat-ment of sodium chloride organic waste was proposed based on the single chamber electrochemical oxidation, which could obtain sodium hydroxide while degrading the organic matter in the waste salt. The electrochemical oxidation degradation con-ditions and pathways of organic compounds in waste salt were investigated in a single chamber electrolytic cell. The research results showed that under the optimal electrolysis conditions of current density of 600 A/m2,reaction temperature of 35℃,and initial pH of 6,after 8 h of electrolysis, the chemical oxygen demand(COD)removal rate of wastewater was 92.3%,the chroma removal rate was 100%,the current efficiency was 32.3%,respectively.The degradation pathways of organic pollut-ants were mainly through the indirect oxidation of active chlorine and hydroxyl radicals generated on the anode.By adjusting the pH of the anolyte and the feeding method, under the same electrolysis conditions, after 8 h of electrolysis, the COD re-moval rate of anode wastewater in the two-chamber process could reach 87.2%,and the total output of cathode sodium hy-droxide could reach 11.33 g.This process had the characteristics of mild reaction conditions, simple process flow, and no secondary pollution. This study could provide reference for the resource utilization of sodium chloride organic waste salts.
