Research on the Adoption Strategy of Blockchain Technology in the Supply Chain of Fresh Agricultural Products
This paper studies the adoption strategy of blockchain technology in the fresh agricultural products supply chain composed of suppliers,third-party logistics service providers and retailers. It constructs the strategy model under the scenario that each member of the supply chain does not adopt blockchain, one party adopts blockchain, two parties adopt blockchain and all three parties adopt blockchain, and respectively discusses the value and influence of blockchain on all enterprises and consumers. The study found that the adoption of blockchain technology is not always the best decision for the fresh agricultural products supply chain, which is related to the cost coefficient of blockchain adoption, price sensitivity, and consumer concerns about product freshness and security. The adoption of blockchain technology by retailers is the biggest boost to demand, followed by third-party logistics, which has led to a"free rider"phenomenon for suppliers, who have an incentive to adopt blockchain only when the cost of adoption is low. This study can provide management insights for the adoption of blockchain technology in the fresh agricultural products supply chain.
