Evaluation of Regional Development Coordination Based on Highway Traffic Coordination Index——Taking the Yangtze River Delta Region as an Example
Traffic road network is an important infrastructure that connects different economic entities and promote the coordinated development of regional economies. As one of the hot spots in human geography and regional economics research area, the support and driving role of the traffic road network on the economy has accumulated lots of research results. However, the existing achievements mainly focus on the advantages of transportation location and its impact on economic and social development from the perspective of the overall regional road network. They failed to take into account the differences in traffic efficiency and capacity of different grades of roads and its impact on regional economy. This paper analyzed the spatial distribution characteristics of the road density with different grades and proposed the construction method of traffic coordination index model in the Yangtza River Delta based on road grade and road density. It takes the traffic road networks of 41 cities in the Yangtze River Delta as examples, verifies the calculation method of regional traffic coordination index proposed in this paper, and analyzes the correlation between the traffic coordination index and the economic statistics represented by GDP.And the results show that the calculation method of regional traffic coordination index proposed in this paper can better reveal the regional spatial distribution characteristics, and there is a positive correlation between the GDP data and the data calculated by the regional traffic coordination index model, which can be used to reflect economic development trends.
