Application of digital demonstration experiment in optics MOOC Going West——Taking circular aperture diffraction as example
The online synchronous classroom of optics in the"MOOC course Going West"at Sun Yat-sen University utilized digital technology to enhance teaching effectiveness. The classroom em-ployed multiple cameraed to present optical demonstration experiments in real time, realizing the com-bination between theory and practical experiments, thus providing digital teaching and quantitative a-nalysis capabilitied for professional course instruction. The demonstration experiment on circular ap-erture diffraction served as a typical case in the optics course.Starting from scalar diffraction theory, the Fraunhofer diffraction and Fresnel diffraction formulaed for circular apertures were derived.Sim-ultaneously,the variation of the spot pattern of circular aperture diffraction was measured with dif-fraction distance.By comparing theoretical analysis with experimental results, the course effectively presented the digitalized representation of theoretical concepts, effectively contributing to students'comprehension of relevant knowledge points and enhancing the teaching effectiveness of the course. This case could provide the beneficial reference for the counterparts to develop the exporation on the the synchronized digital classroom.
