The prevalence of UGC mode provides convenient conditions for users to participate in the creation of short videos,but at the same time,it also brings difficulties to the copyright protection of short videos.From the practical perspective,the difficulties of copyright protection of short videos is mainly manifested in four aspects:there is controversy over the definition of copyright,the duty of care of the platform is vague,the copyright awareness of users is weak,as well as the infringement is hidden and the defending of rights is difficult.In order to solve the difficulties of copyright protection for short videos and promote the healthy development of the short video industry,it is necessary to clarify the copyright definition standards for short videos in the sense of distinguishing short video types and refining reasonable usage standards;to urge UGC platforms to bear the responsibility of short video copyright protection by clarifying the scope of the duty of care and improving the examining mechanism of content;to strengthen the awareness of short video copyright protection for different subjects;at the same time,attention should also be paid to the role of technological empowerment in the copyright protection of UGC short videos.
