Intrinsic mechanisms,empirical evidence and path choices for enabling firm performance in the digital economy
The improvement of enterprise performance is one of the important indicators of China's high-quality economic development,and the digital economy,as an emerging economic model,has an important impact on enterprise performance.Based on the data of listed companies from 2007 to 2019,this paper empirically analyzes the impact of digital economy on enterprise performance and its inherent mechanism of action,and puts forward the relevant digital governance path selection.The study finds that,first,the digital economy significantly improves enterprise performance,and the conclusion of the study still holds after multiple robustness tests.Second,the results of heterogeneity analysis show that the digital economy significantly promotes the performance of enterprises and non-state-owned enterprises in the eastern region,and does not have a significant effect on the performance of enterprises and state-owned enterprises in the central and western regions.Third,the mechanism analysis finds that the digital economy improves enterprise performance by enhancing enterprise R&D investment,which provides a path choice for high-quality development of enterprises.This paper provides empirical evidence that the digital economy empowers enterprise development and enriches related research on enterprise performance improvement and digital governance effectiveness.
