THE IMPACT OF CAPTURE EFFECTS ON THE MUON LIFETIME MEASUREMENTS
Muon is a fundamental particle in the standard model of particle physics, and its re-search not only involves the frontiers of basic physics, but also includes the application of re-lated technologies in the fields of industry and daily life. The measurement of muon lifetime involves several key concepts in modern physics such as relativistic time dilation,Fermi cou-pling constant, and nuclear capture effects. It is of great significance to offer relevant teaching experiments in undergraduate physics courses.By using signal selection circuits for discrimi-nation and digital oscilloscope triggering for recording, the muon decay events were measured using plastic and NaI(Tl)scintillation detectors, respectively. The impact of capture effects on muon lifetime measurement was obtained from the difference in the measured results.
