RESEARCH ON ELECTROMAGNETIC CHARACTERISTICS REPAYING ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE TEACHING—UNDERSTANDING FRESNEL REFLECTION,REFRACTION,AND BREWSTER ANGLE FROM SCATTERING,TRANSMISSION,AND ABSORPTION OF ROUGH SURFACES
The electromagnetic fields on a smooth interface satisfy boundary conditions,mani-fested as obeying Fresnel's law and Snell's law. These laws are not limited to working on smooth surfaces.Starting from the characteristics of electromagnetic scattering,transmis-sion,and absorption from rough surfaces,we re-recognize and understand the impact of Fresnel's laws,Snell's theorem, and Brewster's angle, and see how these theories are applied in the study of electromagnetic behavior on rough surfaces. At the same time, the results of these studies on rough surface electromagnetics,in turn, nourish the teaching of electromag-netic behavior on interfaces. The concrete physical patterns of electromagnetic scattering, transmission, and absorption complement the abstract theoretical formulas, bridging the gap between teaching and research, and igniting students'desire and imagination to explore the electromagnetic laws on interfaces.
