Application of holistic and integrative medicine-oriented flipped classroom model in clinical teaching of digestive system diseases
Objective:To observe the effect of applying holistic and integrative medicine-oriented flipped classroom mode in the clinical teaching of gastroenterology. Methods:Sixty undergraduates majoring in clinical medicine in their internship in the Department of Gastroenterology of our hospital from September 2021 to July 2022 were included and randomized to control group(n=30,taught by traditional teaching methodology),and observational group(n=30,instructed by holistic and integrative medicine-oriented flipped classroom). The two groups were compared regarding the achievement in theory of the curriculum and clinical practice skills, and the teaching effects were evaluated as well. Results:The scoring on the theory of the curriculum and clinical practice skills was higher in the students in observational group than those in the control group[(84.17±6.23)points;(86.50±5.39)points vs.(79.23± 6.82)points;(81.47±6.31)points,respectively,both P<0.05)],and the scores on teaching effect were higher in observational group than in control group[(80.13±5.12)points vs.(71.73±5.21)points,P<0.05)].In terms of cultivating clinical thinking ability, improving the interest in clinical work,self-learning ability, teamwork and enhancing learning interest, the scoring of students in the observational group was significantly higher than that of the control group(all P<0.05).Conclusion:The teaching mode based on holistic and integrative medicine-oriented flipped classroom has achieved remarkable results in the clinical practice education of gastroenterology medicine.
