Application of modified oral flushing and suction device in postoperative nursing of tongue cancer patients undergone skin flap transplantation
Objective:To observe the effect of using modified oral flushing and suction device in postoperative nursing of tongue cancer patients undergone skin flap transplantation for improving oral care in such patients.Methods:Fifty tongue cancer patients undergoing skin flap transplantation in our department were included from March 2018 to July 2021.Twenty-five patients were given conventional oral care(control group)and the rest received improved oral care using modified oral flushing and suction device(observational group).Comparison was made between two groups regarding oral care method,oral hygiene status and patient's oral comfort.Results:Patients'oral hygiene status and oral comfort scores on postoperative day 3 and 7 in the observational group and control group were lower than those on postoperative day 1(P<0.05).Their scores on postoperative day 7 were lower than those on postoperative day 3(P<0.05).Patients'oral hygiene status and oral comfort scores on postoperative day 3 and 7 in the observational group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Modified oral flushing and suction device can improve the oral hygiene status and oral comfort in postoperative nursing for tongue cancer patients undergone skin flap transplantation.
