Effect of autonomous online learning plus case library mode in the teaching of SPSS Software Application for postgraduates
Objective:To observe the effect of autonomous online learning plus case library mode in the teaching of SPSS Software Application for postgraduate students. Methods:One hundred and twenty-five postgraduates enrolled in our college in 2020 and 2021 were included in control group, and another 115 enrolled in 2022 were allocated to observational group.Students in the control group were taught by online video plus instruction of the use of SPSS software(theory and practice),and those in the observational group were given additional autonomous online learning plus case library mode based on the conventional teaching procedures. The teaching effects were evaluated through assessment by closed-book practice and questionnaire response for the student's satisfaction. Results:The postgraduates in the observational group scored higher on practice of SPSS software, and had higher satisfaction rates of learning and using of the software as well as application of the software in the theses than those in the control group(86.77±7.02 vs.81.71±2.77,all P<0.05).In addition, students in the observational group had higher scores in learning attitude towards statistics, emotion, cognitive ability and interest than those in the control group(all P<0.05).Conclusion:Application of autonomous online learning plus case library mode in the teaching of SPSS Software Application can improve the ability of postgraduates in using this software and help them solve their problems in scientific research.
