Preliminary application of prenatal timing acupoint massage based on midnight-noon ebb-flow doctrine in full-term primiparas
Objective:To investigate the preliminary application of prenatal timing acupoint massage based on midnight-noon ebb-flow doctrine in full-term primiparas. Methods:One hundred and twenty full-term primiparas were included between January 2021 and December 2022,and were randomized to observational group and control group(both n=60)according to random number table.Primiparas in the control group received routine intervention, and those in the observational group were given timing acupoint massage based on midnight-noon ebb-flow doctrine for 5 days. Both groups completed a 6-month outpatient follow-up.Comparison was made between two groups regarding negative emotions,Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)scores, breast filling, lactation volume, breastfeeding self-efficacy,formula milk feeding volume, and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Results:In both groups,Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD)scores on day 5 post-interventionwere lower than those before intervention(P<0.05).The observational group showed a significant reduction in HAMA and HAMD scores on day 5 post-intervention,pain severity during the third stage of labor, and postpartum hemorrhage 2 hours after birth, compared to the control group(P<0.05).The breast filling and lactation volume on day 5 post-interventionwere higher than those before intervention in both groups(P<0.05).Primiparas'breast filling, breastfeeding self-efficacy scoresand lactation volumein the observational group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The supplement of formula milk in the observational group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The overall incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes(cervical laceration, intrapartum fever, intrauterine infection, postpartum hemorrhage, and neonatal asphyxia)in the observational group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The6-month exclusive breastfeeding rate in the observational group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Prenatal timing acupoint massage based on midnight-noon ebb-flow doctrine for full-term primiparas can alleviate negative emotions and pain severity, increase lactation volume, maintain breast filling, improve breast feeding self-efficacy,decrease formula milk feeding volume, and reduce the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes, which is worth promoting and applying clinically.
