Effect of comprehensive management mode on protein energy consumption and hyperphosphatemia in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis
Objective:To observe the effect of comprehensive management mode on protein consumption and hyperphosphatemia in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis. Methods:Sixty patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis in the Nephrology Department of our hospital were randomly included from May to December of 2021,and divided into intervention group and control group.Patients in the control group were managed with conventional care, and those in the intervention group received cooperative management from a specialist nurse,a doctor,a pharmacist and a dietitian for 3 consecutive months. Then the two groups were observed and compared concerning the knowledge towards hyperphosphatemia, changes of protein energy consumption, blood phosphorus and albumin levels,calcium-phosphorus product, nutrition status and medication compliance before and after intervention. Results:After implementation of comprehensive intervention, patients in the intervention group had higher scores on related knowledge towards peritoneal dialysis, better improvement on the nutrition status, blood phosphorus and albumin levels and calcium-phosphorus product, lower incidence of hyperphosphatemia, yet better medication compliance than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Comprehensive management mode can reduce protein energy consumption and incidence of hyperphosphatemia in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis.
