Application of cognitive-behavioral group counseling for obsessive-compulsive disorder in medical college students
Objective:To explore the application of cognitive-behavioral group counseling for medical college students with obsessive-compulsive symptoms.Methods:Seventy-six medical college students with moderate obsessive-compulsive symptoms were recruited between October 2021 and October 2022,and were randomly divided into intervention group(n=38)and control group(n=38).The intervention group underwent an 8-week cognitive-behavioral group counseling program,and the control group did not receive any treatment during the intervention and follow-up periods.The intervention effect was evaluated using Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory-Revised(OCI-R),Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)and Life Satisfaction Rating Scale(LSR)at baseline,at the end of 8-week intervention and six-month follow-up respectively.Results:OCI-R score at the end of 8-week intervention,SAS and SDS scores at the end of 8-week intervention and six-month follow-up in the intervention group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05),and LSR scores was higher(P<0.05).Conclusion:Cognitive-behavioral group counseling can effectively reduce obsessive-compulsive symptoms in medical college students,improve their overall mental health,and enhance their life satisfaction.
