Influence of social support and self-efficacy on caregiver burden in patients with Wilson disease
Objective:To investigate the influence of social support and self-efficacy on the burden of primary caregivers for patients with Wilson disease. Methods:General data questionnaire,Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS),General Self-Efficacy Scale(GSES)and Zarit Burden Interview(ZBI)were used to investigate the primary caregivers of 75 patients with Wilson disease from June to December 2022.Results:The total score of the primary caregivers of patients with Wilson disease was31.72±16.00,which was at medium level. There were significant differences in ZBI scores among caregivers of Wilson disease patients with different types,as well as among caregivers of different ages and employment statuses(P<0.05).Caregiver burden was negatively correlated with both social support and self-efficacy(P<0.05).Regression analysis showed that the main factors influencing caregiver burden were self-efficacy and social support(P<0.05).Conclusion:There are different levels of burden in caregivers of Wilson disease patients, which can be alleviated by enhancing social support and self-efficacy.
