Mediating effect of spiritual health on the relationship between attention bias to negative information and fear of cancer progression in patients with cervical cancer
Objective:To explore the current status of spiritual health, negative information attention bias and fear of cancer progression in patients with cervical cancer, and analyze the mediating effect of the former between the latter two factors.Methods:265 cervical cancer patients underwent survey using the general information questionnaire,Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Spiritual Well-being Scale-12,Chinese version of the Negative Information Attention Scale and simplified version of the Fear of Disease Progress.Pearson analysis was used to analyze the correlation between negative information attention bias and fear of cancer progression and spiritual health in the patients, and structural equation modeling was constructed to test for mediating effects. Results:The scoring on spiritual health, negative information attention bias and fear of cancer progression fear was(22.24±3.48),(40.52±4.57)and(35.85±4.62)points,respectively,in the 265 patients included. The fear of cancer progression was positively correlated with the attention bias to negative information, yet negatively with spiritual health(P<0.05)in the patients. The attention bias to negative information was in negative relation with spiritual health(P<0.05).The mediating effect of spiritual health between attentional bias to negative information and fear of cancer progression was 28.0%.Conclusion:The mediating effect of spiritual health between negative information attention bias and fear of cancer progression is confirmed, which suggests that cervical cancer patients'attention bias to negative information can indirectly affect fear of cancer progression by regulating spiritual health.
