Objective:To investigate the relationship between the basic psychological needs of medical students and their sense of meaning in life,and based on which to explore the mediating role of psychological resilience and regulatory role of self-concept.Methods:By randomized cluster sampling,we conducted a questionnaire survey on 824 students from a medical college in Anhui Province by using the Basic Psychological Needs Scale(BPNS),Psychological Resilience Scale(CD-RISC),Tennessee Self Concept Scale(TSCS)and Meaning of Life Scale(MLQ).Results:The sense of meaning in life,basic psychological needs,self-concept,and psychological resilience of medical students were in significant positive correlation(P<0.05);Psychological resilience was in partial mediating role between medical students'basic psychological needs and the sense of meaning in life,and self-concept played a regulatory role in medical students'psychological resilience and sense of meaning in life(β=-0.003,t=-4.199,95%CI:-0.004,-0.002).Conclusion:Basic psychological needs not only directly affect the sense of meaning in life,but also indirectly produce effect on the sense of meaning in life of medical students through psychological resilience,and self-concept can moderate the impact of basic psychological needs on the sense of meaning in life of medical students.
