Status of hope level and its influencing factors in primary caregivers of children with refractory epilepsy
Objective:To investigate the status quo and influencing factors of level of hope among primary caregivers of children with refractory epilepsy. Methods:The primary caregivers of 162 children with refractory epilepsy were included in our hospital from June 2020 to June 2022.Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to screen the influencing factors of level of hope among primary caregivers. Results:The scoring of primary caregivers of children with refractory epilepsy was 33.36±5.97 for level of hope,71.46±8.69 for quality of life, and 75.79±5.45 for psychological resilience. The level of hope was in moderate, and positively correlated with the scoring at each component, quality of life and psychological resilience(P<0.05).Univariate analysis indicated that frequency of seizures in the last six months, primary caregiver's literacy, monthly household income, and medical treatment were statistically associated with primary caregiver's level of hope(P<0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that higher level of hope was associated with higher quality of life, psychological resilience, education level of the main caregivers and monthly income of the family as well as the frequency of occasional seizures in the past six months, the medical payment method of commercial insurance, and the main caregivers for children with refractory epilepsy(P<0.05).Conclusion:The level of hope of primary caregivers of children with refractory epilepsy is moderate.Quality of life, psychological resilience, primary caregiver literacy, monthly household income, and frequency of seizures in the last six months are all factors affecting the level of hope of primary caregivers of children with refractory epilepsy, thus targeted nursing interventions are of vital importance.
