Phoschemical industrial wastewater contained high concentration of hypochlorite and phosphate, which could not be directly discharged. There were few reports on the wastewater treatment in China. Here was an example of the project. According to the characteristics of the wastewater quality, we treated it with a sodium sulfite reduction and coagulation combination process. The average concentrations of total phosphorus and COD in influent were 85 mg/L and 395 mg/L. Corresponding to this, the average concentration of total phosphorus and COD in effluent were lower than 0. 5 mg/L and 100 mg/L. The practice showed that the combined process had a good treatment effect, and the effluent quality parameters reached the requirements of grade I standard in Integrated Wastewater Discharge Standard (GB8978-1996).
