Study on the eldercare options for elderly people in rural areas and influencing factors based on Anderson model—taking CHARLS 2020 data as an example
Objective Based on Anderson model, this paper takes the elderly in rural areas as the research object to explore their options of types of elderly care and influencing factors,so as to provide references for formulating elderly care policies and services that better meet the actual needs of the elderly in rural areas. Methods Using the data of CHARLS 2020,451 samples were included, and Kruskal-Wallis Test and multinomial logistic regression were carried out by SPSS 26.0 to reveal the relationship between various factors and eldercare options for elderly people in rural areas. Results Home-based senior care was the main way of elderly care for elderly people in rural areas(accounting for 76.9%),followed by community-based elderly care services(accounting for 14.9%),and facility-based care was the least(accounting for 8.2%).Univariate analysis showed that gender, age, education levels, marital status, social activities, total household income, availability of medical insurance, and activity of daily living(ADL)significantly influenced the eldercare options for elderly people in rural areas(P<0.05).The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that taking home-based senior care as reference, gender and marital status in preference factors and ADL in demand factors had a significant impact on the choice of facility-based care for elderly people in rural areas(P<0.05).Gender in demand factors and social activities in enabling factors had a significant impact on the choice of community-based elderly care for elderly people in rural areas(P<0.05).Conclusions Home-based senior care is the main way for elderly people in rural areas of China. The different eldercare options are affected by a combination of preference factors, enabling factors and demand factors. In the formulation of elderly care policies and services,it is necessary to further optimize community-based elderly care services and facility-based care services in rural areas, fully consider the different needs of the elderly, and provide diversified and personalized eldercare options.
