Slug catcher is an important terminal equipment for multiphase flow pipeline in offshore oilfield, when employing ultrasonic phased array detection technology to assess them, misjudgment phenomena arise, which severely impair the evaluation accuracy and safety. To tackle this issue, this paper examines the causes of misjudgment and pro-poses improvement measures through experimental methods.Firstly, the service tank body is sliced into samples, and then visual inspection, ultrasonic thickness measurement, radiographic testing, and physical and chemical analysis are conducted. The conclusion indicates that the cause of the misjudged defect is slag inclusion in the weld, rather than in-ternal surface corrosion.Secondly, the factors influencing the accuracy of ultrasonic phased array detection technology are thoroughly analyzed.Lastly, corresponding improvement measures are suggested for the application of ultrasonic phased array detection technology in the corrosion of a segmented flow catcher in an offshore oil field. The research outcomes of this paper have significant reference value for eliminating the misjudgment of internal surface corrosion defects caused by slag inclusion(interstitial defects)in ultrasonic phased array detection.
