Correlation Analysis between Obstetric Nurses'Core Competencies and Professional Identity
Objective To study the status of obstetric nurses'core competencies and professional identity in Guangxi's Grade-A hospitals,and to explore the correlation between them,in order to provide a reference basis for improving obstetric nurses'core com-petency and professional identity and improving the quality of obstetric services in hospitals.Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted on 287 obstetric nurses in 10 Grade-A hospitals in Guangxi by using the whole group sampling method,General Informa-tion Questionnaire,Core Competency Status Questionnaire and Nurses'Professional Identity Scale,and Pearson correlation analysis was performed.Results Obstetric nurses scored(161.46±30.29)on the Core Competency Status Questionnaire and(112.65±22.79)on the Nurses'Professional Identity Scale,and there was a significant positive correlation between the core competency of obstetric nurses and their occupational identity(r=0.752,P<0.05).Conclusion Obstetric nurses'core competency and professional identity in Guangxi Grade-A hospitals are at medium level,and they are positively correlated.Nursing managers should pay attention to and promote the joint improvement of obstetric nurses'core competency and professional identity.
