Construction of Learner Profile for Infant and Child Care Services and Management Major Based on Virtual Simulation Platform
Objective To construct a learner profile for infant and child care services and management major, explore the character-istics of online learning among students in this major, and achieve the goal of continuously improving the quality of online teaching. Methods Normalize the virtual simulation learning behavior data of 140 students in our college with K-means clustering algorithm to cluster the data, and analyze the learning behavior of different learners. Results Three types of learners were formed:high engage-ment learners, medium engagement learners, and poor engagement learners. There are significant differences among different types of learners in terms of task completion progress, test completion progress, platform usage time, test practice time, question answering fre-quency,and participation in discussions.Students with high engagement have significantly better final grades. The duration of exam practice, the progress of exam completion, and the duration of platform usage significantly affect students'final grades.Conclusi-on There are differences in the characteristics of different types of learners in virtual simulation teaching, which significantly affect learning outcomes. It is recommended to develop more virtual simulation teaching resources specifically for infant and child care ser-vices and management major, and enhance students'participation in practical training.
