Analysis of the Status and Influencing Factors of Nursing Undergraduates'Ethical Sensitivity in a Certain University in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
Objective To learn the status of nursing undergraduates'ethical sensitivity in a certain university in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and explore its influencing factors.Methods In March of 2024,a cluster sampling method was used to randomly select 360 nursing undergraduates from three classes(30 students/class)in each grade of Grades one to four through drawing lots.A cross-sectional survey was conducted with a general situation questionnaire,the Chinese Version of the Jefferson Empathy Scale,the Nursing Professional Identity Questionnaire,and the Nursing Ethical Sensitivity Scale.Results The average score for the ethical sensitivity item,empathy ability item,and professional identity item of nursing undergraduates was(2.82±0.37)score,(3.94±0.54)score,and(3.36±0.56)score,respectively.The total score of ethical sensitivity and empathy ability of nursing students(r=0.526)and the total score of professional identity of nursing students(r=0.324)are positively correlated(P<0.01).The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that grade,whether or not they have received learning or training in nursing ethics,empathy ability and professional identity are the main factors affecting the ethical sensitivity of nursing students(P<0.05),accounting for 48.1%of the total variation in ethical sensitivity.Conclusion The ethical sensitivity of nursing undergraduates is at an above average level,and there is still room for improvement.Educators need to carry out comprehensive and multi-level teaching or training to enhance the ethical sensitivity of nursing students.
