Research on the Current Status and Influencing Factors of Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Care Literacy among Elderly Living at Home in Communities in Hunan Province
Objective To learn the level of traditional Chinese medicine health care literacy among elderly living at home in communities in Hunan Province,explore its influencing factors,and provide scientific basis for formulating relevant policies.Methods Convenience sampling method was used to survey 2 401 elderly living at home in communities in 14 prefectures and cities in Hunan Province using general information questionnaires and traditional Chinese medicine health care literacy questionnaires for elderly living at home in communities.Results The literacy rate of traditional Chinese medicine health care among elderly living at home in communities in Hunan Province is 35.3％.The univariate analysis showed that the influence of different ages,registered resi-dence,medical insurance type,education level,marital status,family monthly income and whether there are chronic diseases on the level of TCM health care literacy of the elderly at home in communities was statistically significant(P＜0.05).The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that age,registered residence,education level,family monthly income,and whether there were chronic diseases were the main influencing factors for the literacy of traditional Chinese medicine health care of the elderly at home in communities(P＜0.05).Conclusion The elderly,low education level,farmers,low family monthly income,and healthy elderly popu-lation are the key groups for promoting traditional Chinese medicine health care literacy.Targeted measures should be taken to im-prove the traditional Chinese medicine health care literacy level of elderly living at home in communities in Hunan Province.
