Achieve the real scene 3D model stratum element plotting of digital outcrop based on WebGL
Geological outcrops play a vital role in geological studies. However, the current situation of geological outcrop research is that different geological researchers carry out field surveys of the same geological outcrop in multiple batches, and their work is too repetitive but not relevant enough, which leads to the traditional research method of geological outcrop spends a lot of financial resources and energy but low efficiency. With the development of Web technology and real scene 3D modeling technology, the research and application of digital outcrop real scene 3D models in the Web environment has gradually become the current research hotspot, making it possible to study geological outcrops online.Meanwhile, stratigraphic research is also a vital component of geological outcrop research. Therefore, facing the Web environment and aiming at stratum elements, this paper studies the method of plotting digital outcrop 3D model stratum elements based on Cesium, designs a complete plotting method based on stratum plotting line, surface, and text by calling and expanding Cesium library, and expounds its workflow in detail. This paper takes the outcrop of Xuankong Temple in Fugu,Shaanxi province,as an example to analyze the case and the three main work steps area as follows:①Stratigraphic:plotting of lines, surfaces, and texts;②The realization of some standard extended function of plotting stratum elements;③Storage and reading of a complete set of stratigraphic plotting ele-ments.Moreover,the case illustrates three advantages of this method:①The model loading is precise and fast;②The plotting stratigraphic element is accurate and easy;③The storage and reading of stratigraphic plotting elements is efficient. Therefore,The results show that the 3D model mapping method for digital outcrops can meet professional geological researchers'work needs and greatly help the study of geological outcrops. This method is accurate, efficient, and easy to use.
